and creating your scenery.

THE BEGINNING

Around 2000, Peter (the owner of Modular Train Tables), had to move his

rather large model train table, most of the dismantled pieces were easy to

move, but some were just too big and could not be move out through the door

in one piece. In the end, they just had to be broken up.

"-What a waste!" -were the words from Peter.

From here, there were many ideas being kick around, some of them did not even get off the drawing board. The first table which was put on the market, fail just as fast as it arrived. It was a 900mm x 600mm solid top table, with removable plastic legs. It failed because it was not stable, looked overly heavy and the cost was too high for the market. After the first table, it was realized that there was more to this project than first imagine.

THE MODULAR TRAIN TABLE

It was found that if the table had a solid top, there was a great disavantage in the construction of hills, valleys and track levels, plus limited acess under the layout. By using Modular Train Tables and track bed system, there are many advantages such as no more cutting holes in the solid top, for easy acess to under scenery construction, also being able to have many more track levels, etc..   Track bed has a cost savings too. Because it can be reused  many times over as you remodel your layout. Research then turned to how a table system could be designed, with the main idea being easy to relocate. After many trials, it was decided to settle with the product which we have today. There were only two tables to start, first was 1200mm x 600mm, soon after, the half table 600mm x 600mm. As you look through the website, you will find that we have developed many new Modular Train Tables. Since those first days, each one has had input from our clients.

The bridge series gave a whole new design in modelling with bridges.

There are four units in the bridge series, from these you can create many kinds of valleys, some deep or just wide. They can be step down, so the valley slopes slowly down to a river bed, once over the river bed a vertical rock face could be part of the valley scene. These units can be used in many different ways, which allows for your ideas.

  THE FUTURE

As we covered the beginning and how it all started, let's look at the product. The ModularTrain Tables with trackbed and other accessories.

Each year, Modular Train Tables has made progression in many fields, with the releasing of a product to help many hobbyists who found it very hard in bending to get under their table so that they can operate from the middle of the layout. At the Sandgate Train Show (2008) there was a lift out section, named "lift out bridge". It will have power pick up, so no plugs or sockets required. Looking into the future, there will be many new items, some are on the drawing board now..

Modular Train Tables are testing a new material, which will bring many changes and create new ideas.
